Marty was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents and an infant sister, Lori Ann Mammen. He is survived by his wife, Liz of Emmetsburg parents: Gerald and Leona of Emmetsburg three children: Dewayne Mammen (Laura) of Algona, Melissa Weber (Jeremy) of Emmetsburg and Andrea Mahan (Matt) of Lemars five grandchildren: Scott, Macee and Alexander Mammen of Algona and Tyler and Ryan Mahan of Lemars five brothers: Dan (Cindy) of Davenport, Randy of Emmetsburg, Mike (Kim) of Graettinger, Chuck (Kim) of Emmetsburg and John (Mary) of Mallard three sisters: Diane Steinberg (Galyn) of Forest City, Janet Johnson (Nick) of Orange City and Cheryl Mendez (Chris) of New Brighton, MN and many nieces and nephews. On Friday, September 26, 2014, Marty passed away unexpectedly at his home. Marty was very much a family man, and cherished every moment he spent with his family, especially his five grandchildren. He was an avid motorcyclist, and whenever possible, he and Liz would go riding. Marty had worked the past 19 years at Kathleen's Residential Care in Emmetsburg. On February 15, 1975, Marty was united in marriage to Elizabeth Ross in Estherville. He attended Graettinger Community Schools, and he was a graduate of Graettinger High School. Marlin Lee "Marty" Mammen was born February 27, 1957, in Estherville, Iowa, the son of Gerald and Leona (Helmich) Mammen.
Memorials may be directed to the Shayla Bee Fund - 602 4th Ave SE, Spencer, Iowa 51301. The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. A Celebration of Life Service will be 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, Septemat the Chapel of Joyce Funeral Home.
